Dog Days of Summer...
I sit here revelling in the heat of Southern California and wonder... when will it give up? will we ever get a break? A day in the pool would be nice... The wonderful days of summer will soon be gone it is best to enjoy them now :)

Fatigue...
Are the days of a new mother always accompanied by fatigue? As I struggle to stay awake in the midst of completing my homework for my graduate degree, I ponder this question. When will the days of sleepless nights and early mornings disappear? Five, ten or twenty years? Perhaps, never? Oh, the endless sacrifices never end...

Early Literacy
Early literacy is the most important aspect of reading. It is all too often that I see the 3rd grader that cannot read and parents trying to attain help. The root of the problem? Somewhere down the line of the poor child's education he did not or received poor early literacy instruction. What exactly is early literacy instruction? It's simple. It's the talking and using language with your toddler or reading to your child nightly. It's sing the alphabet and using flashcards with simple words like cat, bat and rat. As well as, showing your child the corresponding picture to those words. Essentially, it's being aware of reading at a very young age. Doing all of this will help your child in the end!

Housing Crisis
What is going on in Southern California with the housing crisis. It seems everyday there is a new story about the epidemic in this region. It is sad to see the people that were taken advantaged of by their lenders and bittersweet if they new better. What contributes most to this epidemic sleazy lenders that were trying to make an extra buck or the homeowners that may have champagne taste on a beer budget?
My little pride and joy...
Everyday brings a new adventure or finding in the life of my infant. It is amazing to see how he looks at the world. A fresh eye taking everything around him in for the first time. His zealous approach to life in his little infant mind is miraculous. Now that he is crawling he treats each minute as if he is on a deadline to figure the world out. Getting him to sit down is the biggest chore of my life right now. I want to tell him so bad, "don't worry son, you have your whole life to figure it out!" What would the world be like if treated life as he does??? Hmm.. I wonder...
My Time
How sweet are those two little words. In my chaotic life as a new mother, I long for 'my time'. This notion is near impossible in my endless day of raising my 7 month old son, taking care of my husband, housework, school and work. I long for the days of the past where I would curl up on the couch and veg out all day watching TV. Oh how those days are gone! Watching TV is now a luxury made possible from my TiVo. 'My time' is a phrase that I will learn the meaning of in eighteen years! Oh the joys of motherhood! :)
